CASA Heroes
Business Hero

Exemplar Financial Network, LLC
We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on Exemplar Financial Network, recipient of this year’s CASA Business Hero Award. Led by a dynamic team including David Hubbard, Jennifer Johnson, and Devon Hubbard Tessmer, Exemplar Financial is not only a staunch supporter of CASA of McHenry County but also a fervent advocate for our mission within the broader community.
Exemplar Financial’s leadership and support extend beyond our organization. They are the proud recipients of the Robert O. Covey Business of the Year Award, recognized by Investment News as a “Best Place to Work for Financial Advisors,” and awarded Best of the Fox – Most Charitable Company and Financial Advisor.
Exemplar Financial Network is true community leader dedicated to making a difference both in and out of the financial sector. Their commitment and support empower us to continue our vital work advocating for children in need.
Individual Hero

Kristin and Steve Georgy
We are proud to announce Steve and Kristin Georgy as recipients of this year’s CASA Individual Hero Award. Their journey with CASA of McHenry County began through a personal connection—Kristin’s sister, who became a foster parent. Witnessing the impact of a dedicated volunteer on a child’s life in foster care deeply inspired them.
Kristin has been a vital part of our Board of Directors for over five years, bringing passion and steadfast dedication to every initiative. Together, Steve and Kristin champion our cause, actively spreading awareness about CASA’s mission to their friends, family, and professional networks.
Their efforts have significantly furthered our work in the community, helping to ensure that every child has the support they need. Join us in celebrating Steve and Kristin Georgy, true heroes who embody the spirit of selfless service and community advocacy.
Volunteer Hero

Allison and Frank Woodin
We are thrilled to recognize Allison and Frank Woodin with the CASA Volunteer Hero Award. This dynamic duo has brought extraordinary talent and dedication to CASA of McHenry County, greatly enhancing our events and community engagement.
Allison, with her expert event planning skills, has been instrumental on several of our major event committees, notably the Big City Bash. Frank has brought his unique talents as an antique car restorer and woodworker to life at CASA events, creating sets, games, and special activities that have captured the imagination of our supporters and exceeded all expectations.
Together, Allison and Frank’s creativity and commitment have not only enriched our events but have also inspired our community to support our mission in impactful ways. We are immensely grateful for their artistry and dedication.
Advocate Hero

Greg Alexander
We are thrilled to recognize Greg Alexander with the CASA Advocate Hero Award. Since becoming a Volunteer Advocate in November 2022, Greg has passionately advocated for a teen-aged boy outside McHenry County, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to his well-being.
Greg’s involvement doesn’t stop at advocacy. He actively participates in the CASA Coffee Club and leverages his network within local groups like the Rotary to further champion our mission. His approach to being a CASA is about finding the perfect balance. “To be a CASA, you need to find that sweet spot,” Greg explains, “where you blend your interests and skills—skills like empathy, listening, discernment, decision-making, patience, temperament, and compassion. The CASA staff then provide the training.”
Greg’s ability to harness his personal strengths and professional network has made a significant impact, not only in his CASA role but also in raising awareness and support for the children we serve.
Advocate Hero

Candice Rennell
We are honored to recognize Candice Rennell with the CASA Advocate Hero Award. Candice has been a devoted Volunteer Advocate for nearly four years, demonstrating unwavering commitment and compassion in her role.
Throughout her tenure, Candice has been a constant presence in the lives of two children on a long-term case, providing stability amid change. Her dedication extends beyond a single case as she recently took on a second challenging case involving five children across multiple dwellings. Despite the demands, Candice’s resolve remains strong: “I spend a lot of time driving, but I know that I am the one person these kids can count on.”
Candice’s role as a beacon of dependability and support for these children embodies the very essence of what it means to be a CASA. Her extraordinary commitment ensures that these children have a consistent advocate in their corner, fighting for their best interests.
